Majestic and tall Never will she fall Looming overhead Guarding birchling beds Imposing and great Never will her power dissipate She holds nature’s fate In her roots Beauty divine Great white eyes Not a trace or scent of demise That motherly care Branches so desolate and bare An aftermath of winter’s yearly wrath Sweeping in An overpowering din Robbing all that was Vivid and beautiful Yet the Great Birch Mother Shows a kindly soul With her purity of skin The shade of frigid rain A figure incarnating love With no trace of pain Knots and niches Reveal wisdom And healed glitches She is daring yet caring That illustrious stare Will look into winter’s eye An intimidating glare It’s worst she will dare
